Space-saving Strawberry Planters For Bountiful Displays

Posted in General Resources, Home and Garden, Shopping by announcer

Whoever invented the strawberry planter was an artistic gardening genius. Usually made of terracotta, the shape is similar to a large flower vase, but with lipped holes spiraling up around the container. A strawberry planter is somewhat like a plant version of an apartment building, where each green occupant has its own soil space that doesn’t interfere with the tenants above or below.
The design of the pot allows each plant room to cascade or trail down the sides. Given the right plant choices, you can virtually cover the pot with blooms for a bountiful display of flowers with a very small footprint. This makes a strawberry planter a great choice for entry ways and small balconies.

Building A Quiet Study Room

Posted in General Resources, Home and Garden, Home by announcer

Provide a comfortable chair and a good desk for the study room, and have a bookcase with reference materials, if you have any. Though the Internet is great for research, the child should not be doing anything else online. This means that you may have to monitor the time they spend in the study room if you can. Don’t allow them to have a phone in the area, or make sure they know not to answer it while studying. Make the study area or room a game and cell phone free zone. There is plenty of time for that after they are done with their homework.
Lastly, make sure this space is used only for study, and that everyone in the home respects that the study room area as a quiet area.

Misconceptions About Greenhouse Gardening

Posted in General Resources, Home and Garden by announcer

Many people who get into greenhouse gardening are extremely serious about it. They research the optimal temperatures, moisture, and soil characteristics for the plants that they are growing, and only grow plants that seem to get along well. I was a little bit less interested in this kind of scientific approach than most are. I simply wanted to have fun with it. I figured that greenhouse gardening would be an adventure, And that at least some of my plants would do well if I persevered. I went down to the seed and plant store and picked out a variety of different species and got to work.
I had sort of thought that greenhouse gardening was something that would take care of itself.

The Lowdown on a Water Filtration System

Posted in General Resources, Health and Medicine, Home and Garden by Resource Poster

People are choosing to drink water from a water filtration system for health reasons and for the fact that the water just tastes better. Everywhere you look, someone is carrying a bottle of water, either a bottle purchased from a store or a personal refill bottle. It seems that people are just thirstier these days. Alternatively, we could just be more health conscious, which I hope is the reason!

Useful Self Watering Planters

Posted in General Resources, Home and Garden, Shopping by announcer

They not only brighten up the landscaping, but they also add a dynamic element to the look of your home. Deck planters do the same and one of the advantages of them, is that they are often portable, which means you can create a new look just by moving them to a different spot. Both varieties of planters can be purchased with the self watering feature. If you are taking off for a summer vacation, normally you’d have to enlist someone to tend to your gardening. This holds true whether you’ve got a bright and brilliant arrangement of flowers or if you’ve decided to grow a few red, juicy tomatoes or…

Keeping Your Pets Safe

Posted in General Resources, Home and Garden, Pets and Animals by Resource Poster
Before bringing our new pet home, we need to look at interior pet safety in our homes and vehicles. We may get very excited to bring the new puppy, kitten, dog or cat home and we may not think about the safety of our new family pet in the interior of our house, yard and vehicle.
Potentials hazards to your pet’s safety include:
  • Electrical cords – make sure they are tucked away and out of reach of the teething pet
  • Fireplaces without screens, wood burning stoves and burning candles
  • Never leash an animal to a balcony or porch from which they could fall
  • Poisonous plants you may unknowingly have in your home. Easiest to eliminate real plants and use silk plants in the interior of your home to insure the safety of your pets
  • Ponds and swimming pools – most young cats and dogs can swim but not for long periods. Even the interior of your home includes threats to your pet’s safety; bathtubs or sinks are very dangerous for kittens and puppies.
  • No chocolate for your pets. In fact, it is simply best to only feed them food specifically made for them. Chocolate, coffee, tea, grapes, raisins are all toxic to them
  • Household chemicals, medicines and cleaning products should be safely put away in closed containers
  • Brittle toys or food bowls that your pet could chew and then ingest
  • Open unscreened windows
  • Tempting open kitchen garbage or trash containers

Is Renting a POD a Good Storage Solution?

Posted in General Resources, Consumer Reviews, Home and Garden by Resource Poster

Have you ever wondered how Pods storage rentals work? If you are like me then you have plenty of questions such as:

  1. How long do have to load or unload it?
  2. What is the turnaround time to pick-up and transport your things?
  3. Do they deliver to your city?
  4. How much do they cost?
  5. What do people think of them?

Pods storage stands for portable on-demand storage. It is a moving and storage system where a container is dropped off and picked up and delivered to its destination. It is a combination storage unit and moving van.
