The Internet-based virtual world of Second Life allows anyone to create a graphic representation, called an avatar, and interact with an entire population of other avatars, in much the same ways as one would in real life. In Second Life you can shop, chat, build, and earn money, called Linden Dollars.
Here is where it gets really interesting for individuals like you and me who want to make money while spending time in a virtual world. Just two years after the 2003 launch of the virtual world, Fortune Magazine ran an article about the growing number of professionals earning full-time incomes by manipulating virtual economies, such as those found in games like EverQuest and World of Warcraft and Second Life.
