With the increasing decibel levels of our world comes an increasing incidence of tinnitus. The main cause of tinnitus is exposure to very loud noises.
Certainly, it’s getting tougher to avoid exposure to loud noise in this fast-paced, busy, loud world we take for granted now. The most negative thing about tinnitus is that there’s no way to cure it. This might seem a bit odd, considering how many millions of individuals suffer from tinnitus.
In many cases, tinnitus is self-inflicted, particularly with the rising popularity of devices such as the Apple iPod and other MP3 players. MP3 players are very popular even your cell phone comes equipped with one.
Such devices are quite popular among students, commuters, and sportsmen and women. Many people use the MP3 players, played at relatively high volumes, as a means to mask the sounds around them and find an escape from everyday life.
However, the volume levels increase to damaging levels because trains, buses, and traffic are so loud, tinnitus also appears.
Many people are unaware of tinnitus until they have it, then realizing how debilitating it can be.
Thus, it’s my view that the best tinnitus cure out there is simply education! Teach kids about it in school and in college, the same way that sex education is taught!
