I am a fresh college graduate and have some brave friends serving on foreign lands, that’s why I am always on a lookout for some good gifts to send to our soldiers. Our soldiers, though very brave and noble are also very young like me, most of them in their 20’s. They also like the comfort of home and long for a good time. I have some gift ideas that I want to share with you, and hope that these will help you in assembling a good gift basket for military overseas personnel
While sending the gifts to troops in a box, one must try to include atleast two of the following three fitting categories:useful, fun and good for batering. A gift box haing “toys” is great but the soldier’s need different things; similarly one can send practical items also but it will be hard for troops to share these items with other friends in platoon.
Many very useful personal hygiene things might be things like baby wipes(which are more practical than one would think!), soap with lotion or aloe, dental floss, and soft wash clothes. These are all wonderful gifts and a favorite brand item like deodorant or toothpaste is never ignored. New underwear, undershirts, and socks, bug repellent, and air freshener can be some other useful or utility gifts though one must remember that sending food is a bad idea.
Our troops love fun things, too! For fun gift ideas to send to our troops, small electronic devices like iPods (load it with music before you send it!) and inexpensive digital cameras (with extra memory!) are a great idea. Platoons often have a lucky guy whose family sent a portable DVD player; movies and television series are great diversions. Also, don’t forget “real toys” like baseballs and frisbees.
Sending a useful and and interesting thing to a bartering favourite soldier is a nice thing to do. Tobacco in its many forms is a thing popular from grand old days. It is a tool used by the soldier to bargain some adjustments with his colleagues. Other useful articles like a small book or magazine is also happily received. However, on must restrain from sending proscribed articles such as liquor, drugs or ammunition, paticularly across the border. Please take note of this.
I hope you’ve got some great ideas for what to send your favorite lieutenant, sergeant, or captain. Always remember to check regulations for what service members are allowed to receive by mail, and also keep in mind that a letter and a photograph will always be welcome too. Have fun creating your own gift basket!
What do you give our soldiers, who are brave, noble, and mostly in their 20’s? Here are some gift ideas to send to our troops. Gifts for the troops should include at least two of the following three categories: useful, fun, and good for bartering. When considering a good gift basket for military overseas, remember to check regulations for what service members are allowed to receive. Music and cigarettes are perennial favorites, while drugs, alcohol, and ammunition are not. Personal hygiene items are also good gift items while food is a bad idea.
